Natalie Butler, Director of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust, has been elected as a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London (FSA), one of the highest honours in the heritage, history, and archaeology sectors.
Election to the Fellowship is a peer-nominated process. Candidates must be nominated by existing Fellows in recognition of their notable achievements, significant contributions to the understanding or conservation of the past, and long-standing dedication to the sector.
Founded in 1707 and granted its Royal Charter by King George II in 1751, the Society of Antiquaries of London is the world’s premier learned society for heritage. Based at Burlington House on Piccadilly, its Fellowship comprises leading academic historians, archaeologists, museum directors, and heritage leaders worldwide.
The Fellowship recognises Natalie’s extensive work in sector leadership, archival research, and the protection of historic landscapes across East Anglia, alongside her stewardship of key archaeological sites as Director of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust since 2021.

NAT Director Writes New Book to Mark Centenary of Norfolk Archaeological Trust
A new publication exploring a century of local history and heritage preservation has been released to mark the centenary of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust (NAT).
Researched and written by Natalie Butler, Director of NAT since 2021, the booklet celebrates 100 years of safeguarding Norfolk’s rich archaeological past for public access and enjoyment.
Founded in 1923, NAT’s history and achievements are brought to life through text and photographs. The book identifies the Trust’s founders and their contributions, alongside the historic properties NAT has rescued and supported over the past century.
